Cả cuộc đời, cố gắng bung nở một lần với thế gian rồi tàn lụi. Người viết từng nhìn thấy bụi tre nhà trồng ra hoa sau mười mấy năm gắn bó, sau khi hoa nở trắng trời, nó khô dần và chết. Với những đặc điểm như trên, cây tre được so với hình ảnh người quân tử, cũng ví như bách, hay tùng, nhưng khác là, tre được xem như là đặc trưng của người Việt Nam.
Những vật dụng thủ công làm từ tre, nó đi vào đời sống người Việt một cách đơn sơ, nó thổi hồn vào văn hóa Việt một cách bình dị và thân thương. Mong rằng người Việt chúng ta, trải qua bao thăng trầm bể dâu, vẫn có thể giữ được cái hồn văn hóa này, nó không cao xa, văn hoa hay diễm lệ, mà đơn giản, nó gắn liền văn hóa dân tộc – Hồn Quê.
