Facebook mới từ chối một đề nghị gỡ một bài báo đăng trên trang mạng xã hội mà chính phủ Singapore coi là “sai trái và độc hại”.
Ngân hàng Trung ương Singapore hôm 9/11 cho biết đã báo lên cảnh sát liên quan tới một bài báo do một blogger độc lập có trụ sở ở Úc đăng tải về các ngân hàng Singapore và vụ bê bối quỹ nhà nước 1MDB ở Malaysia, theo Reuters.
Theo chỉ thị của cơ quan quản lý viễn thông và báo chí của Singapore, IMDA, trang web States Times Review (STR) đã bị chặn ở Singpore.
IMDA cho rằng STR đã cho đăng tải các nội dung bị cấm. Tuy nhiên, các bài báo của STR trên Facebook của trang này vẫn còn truy cập được.
Reuters dẫn lời IMDA cho biết đã yêu cầu Facebook gỡ bài viết “làm tổn hại tới lòng tin của dân chúng về chính phủ Singapore” nhưng “Facebook đã không chấp nhận yêu cầu của IMDA”.
Facebook từ chối bình luận về vụ này.
Bộ Luật pháp Singapore nói rằng “Facebook đã từ chối gỡ một bài đăng rõ ràng là sai trái, phỉ báng và công kích Singapore bằng cách sử dụng thông tin sai”.
Bộ này nói rằng điều đó cho thấy sự cần thiết phải đưa ra các đạo luật chống lại tin tức giả.
