Ở xóm trọ có một chị học lớp 5 rất thích chơi với Tôm. Thỉnh thoảng lại đứng cửa gọi “Tôm ơi đi chơi với chị không?”. Tôm thích lắm. Mỗi lần nghe tiếng gọi là Tôm lại cuống quýt, lật đật mang dép chạy ra.Hôm rằm trung thu, các bác ở xóm tổ chức múa lân, phát quà cho các bé. Tôm mang lồng đèn đi rước đèn cùng các anh các chị. Hôm ấy đông vui lắm, Tôm cầm đèn lồng đi hàng đầu, nhưng chỉ một lúc sau là bị tụt lại phía sau vì Tôm nhỏ xíu, bị các anh các chị lớn hơn vượt lên trước.
Chị lớp 5 trông thấy Tôm là bế em lên ngay. Tôm gặp chị cũng mừng lắm. Thỉnh thoảng, chị kia lại ghé môi hôn Tôm một cái. Đội rước đèn đi khắp xóm. Người lớn, trẻ con đều vui, vừa đi vừa hát.
Đội rước đèn đi đến gần nhà chị lớp 5, chị đặt vội Tôm xuống, nói với tôi:
– Cô trông em nhé, mẹ cháu mà nhìn thấy la cháu chết.
Rồi chị chạy vụt đi. Tôm nhìn theo, cố tìm chị đang lẫn vào những ánh đèn lồng với các bạn nhỏ khác.
Tôi ôm chặt con vào lòng. Thấy tim như thắt lại.
Thương lắm Tôm ơi. Sinh ra trong một gia đình chống cộng, một gia đình có đến 3 người từ ba mẹ đến chú ruột đều là những người tù.
Nhưng sau này lớn lên con sẽ hiểu, vì sao gia đình mình nhiều người tù như thế.
