Sau khi công nhận ông Guaido là lãnh đạo Venezuela, Washington hôm 26/1 thúc giục các nước trên thế giới “chọn phe” và cắt đứt liên hệ tài chính với chính phủ của ông Maduro.
Anh, Đức, Pháp và Tây Ban Nha tuyên bố sẽ công nhận ông Guaido nếu ông Maduro không tổ chức tổng tuyển cử trong vòng 8 ngày.
Theo Reuters, Nga đã gọi tối hậu thư này là điều “nực cười” trong khi ngoại trưởng Venezuela coi đó là chuyện “trẻ con”.
Washington, Canada, phần lớn các quốc gia Mỹ Latin và nhiều nước châu Âu cho rằng có gian lận trong lần đắc cử tổng thống thứ hai của ông Maduro tháng Năm năm ngoái.
