Theo tin từ trang web của CATL thì thỏa thuận vừa ký giữa VF và CATL (TQ), cho phép Vinfast mua nguyên cụm phần dưới của xe điện, bao gồm pin, động cơ điện, và một số linh kiện điện khác được tích hợp sẵn vào gầm xe (chassis) thành một bộ khung gầm đầy đủ các cấu thành chủ yếu của xe điện (mô tơ điện, pin, khung gầm).
Cũng theo CATL thì đây là hợp đồng thứ 2 bên cạnh hợp đồng đã có là hợp đồng cung cấp Cell-To-Pack (pin được tích hợp vào thành pack thay vì tích hợp thành module).
Hợp đồng mới là HĐ cung cấp một công nghệ mới hơn, cell-to-chassis (pin được tích hợp vào khung gầm xe bao gồm cả động cơ điện thành một cụm hoàn chỉnh).
Như vậy có thể Vinfast đã thay đổi chiến lược, không đầu tư nhà máy sản xuất pin tại Mỹ nữa (CTP) như kế hoạch trước đây, mà sẽ source nguyên cụm CTC từ CATL của TQ.
Với hợp tác này thì VF cũng không cần phải sản xuất mô tơ điện riêng cho mình nữa, vì tất cả đã có sẵn trong cụm này rồi.
Tiết kiệm được khối tiền, thời gian sản xuất xe có thể rút ngắn lại đáng kể, mà khỏi phải đầu tư nghiên cứu động cơ hay pin gì nữa.
Cái được của đối tác Trung Quốc là qua Hợp đồng này, Vin giúp họ chiếm lĩnh thị trường. Riêng thị trường Việt Nam, nếu VF thành công thì thị trường này là thị trường của công nghệ TQ chứ không phải Nhật hay Châu Âu, hay Mỹ.
Và sự kiện này cũng có nghĩa là cái định vị cao cấp với công nghệ của Đức như ban đầu thì bây giờ VF đã hạ xuống cho gần với sức mua của thị trường VN?
