Mạng báo Philstar loan tin ngày 13 tháng 8 dẫn ý kiến trên Twitter của ông Teodora Locsin rằng bộ trưởng ngoại giao Philippines cấm những tàu khảo sát biển, bổ sung thêm Trung Quốc vào lệnh giới hạn đối với Pháp và Nhật Bản.
Theo người đứng đầu ngành ngoại giao Philippines, thì nếu cấp ngoại lệ cho một quốc gia sẽ ngay lập tức khiến cho lệnh cấm bị bãi bỏ hoàn toàn.
Ý kiến của bộ trưởng ngoại giao Philippines được đưa ra sau khi có tin phát hiện hai tàu thăm dò của Trung Quốc hoạt động trong vùng Đặc Quyền Kinh tế của Philippines vào tuần qua. Đó là tàu thăm dò hải dương Zhanjian và Dong Fang Hong.
Mạng báo Inquirer vào ngày 13 tháng 8 cũng loan tin Phủ tổng thống Philippines ủng hộ biện pháp của Bộ Ngoại giao đưa Trung Quốc vào danh sách những quốc gia mà tàu thăm dò không được phép hoạt động tại vùng biển của Philippines.
