Hồi xưa,thời thập niên 90′ chơi stock còn cần Broker. Tất cả đều giao cho họ, mua hay bán, lời hay lỗ,người chơi stock lúc nào cũng phải trả tiền huê hồng cho Broker.
Thời đó chưa có internet Broadband như bây giờ. Muốn vô internet phải mở account với American Online, Prodigy hay CompuServe. Mà log-in từ 56K modem qua ngã phone nhà landline thì rất là lâu . Ngồi chờ tin tức tải về từng trang từng trang với tốc độ 56 kilobits/giây như rùa bò. Còn ngày nay thì có internet Broadband với tốc độ trung bình vào khoảng 11.4 megabits/giây,nhanh gấp 200 lần.
Thử tưởng tượng bây giờ click một cái, internet lật qua trang mới liền, còn hồi xưa thì phải chờ chậm hơn gấp 200 lần. Mà đường line modem còn hay bị drop nữa chứ. Drop bị disconnected thì phải làm lại từ đầu.Nói chung rất bực mình, nhưng internet quá mới mẻ lại học được nhiều điều trên mạng nên xuốt ngày cứ ngồi đó mà quậy.
Sau vào khoảng năm 2000, Windows cho ra phiên bản Windows 2000 qua Broadband, nên lúc đó internet mới thật sự là bùng nổ đến mọi nhà mọi nơi. Vô mạng thường là xem tin tức, check mail, coi score NBA, NFL,NCAA bóng rổ, bóng cà na, đá banh đủ hết. Nhưng cái gay cấn nhất là buổi sáng check giá stock.
Có dạo dân chơi stock kiếm tiền nhiều lắm vào khoảng cuối thập niên 90′. Thời gian đó stock của những CT liên quan đến internet đều tăng vọt. Từ Windows, Yahoo, AOL, Netscape, Alta Vista, eGain…cho đến eToy, Lycos, iVillage, Covad, Ariba …v…v….Cứ mua là ngày nào cũng thấy giá tăng vùn vụt. Mua vô 10$ thì tuần sau đã lên 20$, rồi 40$, rồi 60$..có stock tăng 1000%, mua 10$,2-3 tháng sau giá đã thành 100$/share. Hảng Qualcomm kia giá stock tăng 2,700%. NASDAG composite stock tăng 400%, còn Dow Jones Industrial Average thì không bị ảnh hưởng nhiều vì 30 CT của The DOW toàn là những CT Blue Chip.
Đâm ra đi đâu cũng nghe bàn về stock. Ở bàn nhậu,café… ai ai cũng hào hứng hồ hởi phấn khởi, nhiều người chơi, lắm kẻ cũng đã thành triệu phú trên giấy tờ. Đứa này xúi đứa kia,về nhà vét hết savings. Không có savings thì cào 2nd-3rd loan trong nhà ra để đầu tư vào stock.
Mà hồi đó chơi qua ngã Margin Account. Tức là có ít tiền nhưng Broker sẻ cho mượn thêm để mua. Thí dụ như có 20$ đi mở account, Broker cho mượn 80$, thế là account có 100$ để chơi stock. Nhưng nếu stock mà xuống giá gần 20% thì kể như mình hết tiền, phải mang tiền bơm vô account, nếu không Broker sẻ bán sạch để họ lấy lại vốn, chứ họ không chờ cho stock xuống nữa thì lại thâm vô tiền của họ.Mọi sự xảy ra đều tốt đẹp, cả làng ai cũng hoan hỉ giàu sụ. Đứa thì đi mua nhà, mua xe, đứa thì quit Job chỉ ở nhà sáng trưa chiều theo dõi stock lên hay xuống.Một ngày kiếm mấy chục ngàn mà lị.
Nhưng ôi thôi đâu ngờ cái gì đi lên rồi cũng sẻ đi xuống. Bạo phát thì bạo tàn. Bắt đầu vào khoảng giửa năm 2000, stock bắt đầu mất giá. Những stock của CT .com bắt đầu xuống dốc không phanh như quả bong bóng bắt đầu xì hơi. Hồi xưa lên ra sao, thì lúc xuống, nó xuống y như vậy. 100$ xuống 80$, rồi 60$ rồi 40$ rồi 20$….v…..v… chóng mặt luôn. Cứ sáng ra là thấy Broker dí Margin call, họ bắt phải deposit thêm tiền trong ngày nếu không thì họ sẻ bán sạch stock. Thế là phải chạy tiền gửi cho Broker, hy vọng ngày mai giá lên lại rồi tính.
Nhưng sức đứa nào cũng có hạn. Tình hình càng ngày càng tồi tệ. Bỏ thì thương, mà vương thì tội.Đến lúc không còn quơ tiền được đâu nữa thì đành chịu. Thế là bị Broker bán sạch account, tán gia bại sản luôn cũng vì chơi stock. Dạo đó tan nát hết,có đứa còn bị vợ tống cổ ra khỏi nhà vì cái tội cãi bướng. Những giấc mơ triệu phú đã tan thành mây khói chỉ trong vòng vài tháng.
Mấy hôm nay stock lại xuống ào ào, The Dow từ gần 30,000 nay xuống 22-23,000.. Những thảm cảnh khi xưa như cuốn phim được chiếu lại và dĩ nhiên những ai đang nhào vô stock trễ hoặc chơi qua ngõ Margin Account thì kể như đã bị mất trắng, từ lúc The Dow còn ở ngưỡng 25-26,000 điểm. Còn những ai có dư không cần đi mượn Broker thì còn hy vọng khi stock lên sẻ lấy lại.
Trò chơi này tóm lại phải tính đường dài, nhìn thấy giá stock xuống ào ào rồi tẩu hỏa nhập ma, bán sạch thì hết còn cơ hội gỡ vốn.
